Connie Hagar:
(Endeavors to educate, conserve, and
protect our natural resources)

of the Rockport Cottages: Church St; 1st site dedicated by
Roger Tory Peterson for the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail.
Connie Hagar
Wildlife Sanctuary: extends along the coastline from Cove
Harbor to the shores of both the Aransas and Matagorda Island Wildlife
Refuges.
Historical Marker:
Texas State Historical Commission breaks tradition and honors Connie Hagar
with a historical marker allowing the dedication to take place several
years earlier than usual following an individual's death.
Gravesites of
Connie and Jack Hagar: Jack died August 20, 1962, and Connie
passed away on November 29, 1973. Both were laid to rest at the Rockport
Cemetery, which overlooks Connie's favorite birding spot, Little Bay and
what used to be Frandolig Island (now Key Allegro). |
